Maintenance Guide

Keep Your Ride Smooth — Sktrbro Style

Your skateboard is more than just a board — it’s your daily ride, your creative tool, and your statement. To keep it performing at its best, regular maintenance is key. Here's how to take care of your Sktrbro deck like a pro:

🔩 1. Tighten Hardware Regularly

  • Use a skate tool to check and tighten trucks, bolts, and nuts weekly.

  • Loose hardware can lead to instability or even injury.

  • But don’t overtighten — you still want smooth turns and natural flex.

🧼 2. Keep It Clean

  • Wipe down the deck and wheels with a dry cloth after riding, especially if there's dust or moisture.

  • Never soak your board in water. Wood decks absorb moisture and warp over time.

  • If you skate through rain or puddles, dry your board immediately with a towel.

🛞 3. Maintain the Bearings

  • Bearings should spin freely. If they feel gritty or stiff, it’s time to clean or replace them.

  • Use a bearing cleaner or isopropyl alcohol to remove dirt and apply skateboard-specific lubricant.

  • Store your board in a dry place to avoid rust.

🦶 4. Check Grip Tape

  • Grip tape wears down over time. If it’s losing traction, your footing will suffer.

  • Brush off dust regularly using a grip tape brush or an old toothbrush.

  • Replace the tape if it becomes slick or peels up at the edges.

🪵 5. Inspect the Deck

  • Look out for cracks, chips, or pressure cracks along the deck.

  • Small chips on the nose/tail are normal with use, but deep cracks can lead to breakage.

  • Replace your deck if it feels soft, spongy, or has lost pop.

🔁 6. Rotate Your Wheels

  • Wheels wear unevenly, especially if you ride in one direction most of the time.

  • Swap your front and back wheels every few weeks for even wear.

  • Replace wheels if they get too coned or develop flat spots.

💡 Pro Tip: Skate Tools Are Your Best Friend

Invest in a good T-tool or all-in-one skate tool. It’s portable and lets you adjust on the go — from bushings to axle nuts.

❌ What to Avoid

  • Don’t leave your board in a hot car — heat can warp your deck and damage bearings.

  • Avoid riding through sand, mud, or salty streets. These destroy bearings and ruin grip.

  • Never throw or slam your board out of frustration — it shortens its life (and looks unprofessional).
